SHOPPING DOLLS

From reading information about these dolls on a couple of other sites, I understand that the dolls pictured here were dressed to represent a typical teenager of 1987 as they shopped or hung out in one their favourite shopping areas of "Harajuku" or "Shibuya" Evidently these are areas of Tokyo filled with shops for teenagers.

This girl is from the "Harajuku" collection; she represents typical teenagers arrayed for a day's shopping at Harajuku. Harajuku is a neighborhood of Tokyo full of shops for teenagers. Anyone over 20 feels slightly out of place there!

This doll is dressed like girls who used to hang around Shibuya around 1987-1988 (quite different from current fashion). Shibuya is another neighborhood where lots of young people go to hang around and shop. In it you might find an English bookshop, a fabulous crepe shop or a French Tea seller. The upstairs has a wonderful array of fabrics, buttons and ribbons.
