FOURTH GENERATION LICCA

......

Sunshine Change Licca was released in March 2000. She's made from a special material and is supposed to really tan when she's put in the sunshine. She has blond and light brown mesh hair cut in a shaggy style. She came in a clear bag, handy to take her with you on holiday, with a swimsuit, towel, beach bag and "tattoo" stickers. . Here she's wearing a Street Casual outfit released in May 2000. The shoes are particularly neat, they look like Converse sneakers, the left one is different from the right one, and there is a pattern on the sole like on real sneakers!

......

Skiwear Licca is from the Fashion Calendar Collection. Other than Licca the series also includes Aki and Kira, and soon Charles. Originally this doll came in a ski outfit, now she's wearing a Street Casual outfit from May 2000.

......

Monchichi Licca, released in 1999, is a Sekiguchi Doll Garden original (she was also sold at Totoco). She's the first Licca ever to have freckles. She comes with a small monkey called Monchichi (there were several color variations) and is dressed up like a monkey too (there was only one color for her outfit though).

......

Chinese Licca dates from 1992 and was released together with Swiss, Indian, Arabian, Dutch, Spanish, English, American, Japanese and Korean Licca. The 10 dolls were available either separately or together in a gift box. These days Indian Licca is extremely popular with collectors and goes for sky-high prices on the secondary market. This Chinese Licca has green eyes and would be a great success if only her tights would fit!

......

Petit Antique Licca dates from 1992 and comes in a dark wine-red box, quite different from usual Licca boxes. In the same series were two other dolls, wearing a red dress and a black (or navy blue?) dress, all of them made of velvet. According to the box these dresses are a present from Grandma Helene! This doll has a beautiful clear complexion and dark blue eyes, like a Castle original Licca. Her ash blond hair has a very soft touch, and is made of Toyokalon, like early Excelinas.

......

This is quite a recent Licca. She came in a pink box. She's one of the cheaper play dolls, but she has a pleasing delicate coloring and looks lovelier than quite a few of the more expensive dolls.

......

This doll was released in 1994 in a pack with 2 videos and a carboard video rental shop. Licca is all ready to serve customers in her striped apron. Apparently this set was not sold in toy shops but exclusively in video rental shops. The original price was 10000 yen but she's very popular with collectors and the price has now skyrocketed to around 30000 yen (NRFB).This set included the box, video shop and two videos, one an anime featuring Licca and the other an anthology of Licca-chan TV commercials from 1967 to the present. This Licca has a distinctive face with her slightly tanned skintone, beige lips and pink eyeshadow both above and below her eyes.

BEFORE ......

Parisian Licca hasn't been a success with American collectors. It's true that her dress is maybe a little too loud, with all these frills and ribbons and lace, and she looks a bit silly in her bonnet. Some people also thought her big curls too much for her. No wonder the poor thing looks somewhat embarrassed in this picture! So Licca got a makeover......................AFTER:
