Tizzie

I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots;
Her equal would be hard to find, she likes the warm and sunny spots.
All day she sits beside the hearth or in the sun or on my hat:
She sits and sits and sits and sits -- and that's what makes a Gumbie Cat!

Tizzie wa born in 1996. We were at a horse show in Delta and we were walking back to the car when we passed a woman with two kittens in a box. How old I asked, eight weeks she said. Brianne picked up one kitten and another girl picked up the other. We all snuggled them for a bit and I said we can't take a kitten now we are leaving for Atlanta and the 1996 Summer Olympics there in two weeks. We all turned to put the kittens back in the box and the woman and box were gone. The other lady said, well I guess we got ourselves a couple of new kittens. We called her Tismet. Two weeks later our friend Jackie took Tizzie in for us while we went off to the Olympics. We counted back to figure out Tizzie's approximate birthday, it was around the beginning of May, so I chose my Mother's birthday for her: May 2

Papa used to come out every weekend to stay over after Gaga passed away. We wanted him to move in but he still had all his old friends back at the old house so he stayed there and had fun with them then came to the farm to have fun with us. One morning I came down to find Papa sitting in the arm chair enjoying his morning cup of tea with Tizzie curled up in his lap. "He looked up and said, I've never had a cat before, this is very nice. I like this cat." Tizzie and Papa became great friends. She liked to sit in his hat.

Shortly after we moved from Tsawwassen to our new home in Langley Tizzie became ill. She became progressively worse and Dr. Marlowe of Brookeswood Vet could find nothing. He worked tirelessly and finally took Tizzie into hospital and made sure she was being supported. Finally after much research and consulting with others he found the cause Acute Pancreitis and started the cure. Dr. Marlowe saved Tizzie's life that year.
