COLONIAL HOUSE WITH A UTILITY  ROOM

The Colonial with a utility room was produced in 1951. This colonial style is the most common style produced by Marx. The style was first produced in 1949 and came with a garage and a nursery with either a Disney or ABC motif. After 1951 all the colonials had a utility room and non-Disney nursery.

Inside the house has exactly the same configuration as the Disney or Colonial with a garage, except of course that it has a utility room in place of the garage. Mom and Dad seem to like the house, they're dancin' the night away in the livingroom.   This house was featured in the 1957 Simpson-Sears Canada Christmas Catalogue.  It was my original one and only dollhouseNow I know where Mom got it!!!

In 1971 the colonial got another facelift.  This time the interior stayed the same, but the exterior got new "Redwood" siding on the upper floor and oblong stone on the lower floor.  It was also given a dormer and a canopy on the patio.  The house was shown in the 1971 Sears Wishbook.

FURNITURE.....

This house used the 1/2 inch traditional furniture, but now it had cool laundry room items.
