Colonial with a Garage...............

A PLACE TO PARK THE CAR....
This house was first produced in 1949 along with the Disney house. This was my dollhouse, but this style must have hung around for a while because I wasn't born when this house was first produced. The house had a cute little animial motif in the nursery instead of the Disney motif. The other rooms were the same: living/dining room, kitchen, garage on the main; nursery, bathroom, master bedroom and patio on the second floor. The exterior of these earliest houses seemed to be the standard white clapboard with coloured brick style.

LET'S GO INSIDE.....

Inside this house was pretty much identical to the Disney house, except of course for the aforementioned nursery. After 1951 the houses were produced with a utility or laundry room rather than a garage.

FURNITURE.......
The first editions of this house came with the 1/2" Traditional style furniture in hard plastic. Later editions had the 1/2" Traditional style but in soft plastic or a mixture of hard and soft. The white clock that is shown in the previous picture on the diningroom buffet on the right of the picture is not a Marx item, but a Renwal one. It is there because I can remember having one in my doll house as a kid and I had to place it in this house too.
